These are certainly crazy times.

Times when wearing a piece of cloth over your mouth indicates whether you’re a Christian living by faith or controlled by fear.

Times when everything is hyper-politicized, including whether your church has in-person worship.

Times when Christians are so enamored with Trump that we no longer demand our leaders at least pretend to have a modicum of character, morality, decency, and leadership.

I often wondered as a kid in how the AntiChrist would deceive Christians. Well that was when I was a child. It wasn’t until I was 49 years old and it was 2020, until my eyes were opened and I finally saw it happening before me. I now no longer wonder. What a disgraceful party and what disgraceful Christians in this day and age.

If we lose the Senate, you will see exactly what Biden supporters and Never Trumpers voted for. The sexual revolution will go on steroids forcing Christian schools and Colleges to choose between their beliefs or compromising with the LGBTQ agenda. Biden’s nominee for Health Secretary is the most radical pro-abortionist in the government. This is just the beginning. Hopefully the Senate can stop the Biden/Harris agenda. Socialism, radical environmentalism, selling out to the Chinese Communists, globalism, defunding police and the military, border chaos, more illegal voting and immigration, softness on Iran. No end to the corruption. The Biden family is a criminal enterprise according to the research by Peter Schweizer in “Profiles In Corruption”. 71 pages devoted to the “Biden Five”.

Question: Is the Cult of Trumpism any stronger than the Cult of Anti-Trumpism?

It doesn’t seem to matter how often someone says that a huge number of those who voted for Trump were not supporting Trump, per se, but opposing the alternative. The Anti-Trump Cult continues to misrepresent this reality. It’s not enough to say that Trump is a scoundrel, and deserves to lose, but to demonstrate that his loss produces a better outcome than his victory. That remains to be seen, but the preliminary indications are not too encouraging. Trump is a scoundrel. Yes, but compared to Biden, he may be the far lesser of two scoundrels.

I’m a little older than you, and I can remember pretty much the same thing happened with Reagan. I heard the same charges of American Christians being guilty of idolatry. I even remember one crazy person who thought Reagan was the antichrist — note the number of letters in each of his names: “Ronald Wilson Reagan,” which comes out to, oh my goodness, 666. Yeah, you can guess how seriously I took that. I hadn’t even thought of that in a long time until I read your post.

I do find it interesting that any time a political candidate tries to go against some or many of the prevailing cultural mores, and Christians come out to support that, because they’d rather not slouch even more quickly toward Gomorrah, the charges of idolatry (and even, “this is how the antichrist will come”) get thrown around. As Greg said, no one even tries to take into account the number of Christians who don’t think that Trump is a Christian, or a good man, but voted against worse policies, and would still like the policies of the left to not come to fruition so quickly or easily.

Most of us understand that “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,” but I hardly think it’s idolatry to try to be salt and light so that doesn’t happen even more quickly, and for me part of that is exercising my vote against such. I get the feeling that some would rather see things get worse quickly, and maybe even attempt to usher in the end times, or cause some sort of purification of the church. Even though Paul wrote that to depart and be with Christ was far better, and that he was thankful to be worthy to suffer, he still used every legal means at his disposal to oppose such where he could.

But understand this, your observation is not only not incisive, it’s not even original.

I am pretty sure we are in this situation today.

I am not sure of this understanding that Christian values will be protected and we could potentially turn back as a Christian nation if we just somehow choose the right person. I am not a fan of Biden, and I am also not a fan of Trump. While Trump may pursue those things more aligned with what we may be looking for as Christians, his personal values are not any better than Biden, and as we see his behavior today, his actions also carry a very serious and grave threat to our democracy if they somehow were able to play out.

I for one will not wring my hands on whether the next president would somehow protect our Christian schools from having to choose their beliefs over the LGBTQ agenda, because the schools should still be choosing their beliefs over the world around them. God is sovereign. Biden was elected, just as God purposed it. We as Christians should stand up against morality whether it is Biden or Trump, and we should define the high ground of morality from our leaders, including Trump. Too many Christians are willing to overlook or not speak out against the serious moral failings and decisions of our current leader, because they are more willing to receive the benefits that they perceive being under Trump than under Biden. They drive fear into those around them, that if they don’t choose Trump, we will be stuck with the failings of Biden and the agenda that he brings. And that somehow that agenda should strike fear into us for what it will bring.

God’s judgement is coming upon the sin of this nation. God is faithful and He protects His people. There is not despair, but hope that we have in Christ. It seems that somehow the church is the one screaming words of despair year after year.

Yes, now that Biden is president. When Trump was president, Religious Freedom was protected against such assaults. Democrats are eager to exalt LBGTQ “rights” above Religious Freedom, and will now be empowered to enact their agenda. Welcome to just one of many negative results of Anti-Trumpism.

It’s not a matter of one man being able to “save the nation.” It’s a matter of which agenda will be given greater power. It’s not a matter of expecting a political leader to return our nation to it’s Christian heritage, but rather which political party will hasten the decline. Only a God sent revival can turn our nation around„ but which political philosophy holds power has serious ramifications on the present welfare of the USA.
