Kentucky church votes to ban interracial couples
Racism is often overblown. God clearly showed favor to Israel sometimes at the expense of other nations. That was not racism.
I would define racism as the belief that a person is someone inferior or superior simply because of their ethnicity. In the case of the story, a white girl couldn’t marry a black guy for apparently no other reason that because of their skin color. If they are both believers, then this group sees skin color as priority over being in Christ.
Eph 2 has something to say about that also.

I am not going to hold my breath in waiting for someone to respond to my follow-up question in response to Jim Peet’s definition of racism because I believe they know where it will lead, to a place where the assertion that “racism (based on Peet’s definition) is a sin” will be found erring in many contexts. So I will suffer the bowing out, I understand.
Now as to your definition, James, when you say inferior or superior I am supposing by “inferior or superior” you are referring to the personhood or being and not their real properties in comparison to other humans since obviously some people possess superior properties than others and some of these can be observed, measured and clearly qualified along genetic identities which are racial/ethnic in some cases.
So indeed, if we view someone to be “less human” than another, we err and deny the biblical narrative that though people may differ genetically, one is no less human than the other. And I agree that often it is overblown. The best examples of it being overblown may be found in the legitimate forms of discrimination which may be practiced by a person without it being racism. People often confuse discrimination with racism, though racism (as you have defined it, I am using your definition) does involve discrimination, not all discriminatory judgments are defacto racism, though they may involve distinguishing or even segregating based on race or ethnicity.
Of course, within the body of Christ the bible is quite explicit. All spiritual benefits and blessings are equally distributed to everyone the moment they believe and no spiritual exercise is restricted based on human properties nor may we promote such. As since the Word of God only dogmatically forbids believers marrying unbelievers (which is a valid cause for excommunication) and outside of that it is left to matters of principle to which each person answers privately to God, the local body which denies membership based on this single criteria is out of bounds. They may believe they have points of “wisdom” informing them but regardless of any local body believing they have “wisdom” in any matter, unless the Scriptures make a matter clearly subject to excommunication or denial of membership, all their personal views or matters of wisdom simply are not enough to permit them to reach beyond the protocol of God.
But in the end the regulations which are binding to the Divine institution of the church (the body of Christ) are not simply imported into other contexts because they seem right. Other Divine institutions are regulated by other principles than the body of Christ, some are the same at times but some are not. And to suppose because membership in the body of Christ may not be restricted genetically it then merits imposition into all other Divine or human institutions, is a grave error.
Sure Jim, but to the liberal media, all conservatives are racist. You can’t make comments in sporting events because that would be racist. And on and on.
