Harvest Bible Chapel founder James MacDonald signals ‘early 2020’ return to ministry

“ ‘Early in 2020, around the anniversary of my last local church sermon, we will begin considering interim preaching opportunities,’ MacDonald said in a message on his ministry website, jamesmacdonaldministries.org, where he lists Vertical Church and Act Like Men as ministries that are ‘coming soon.’” - Christian Post

Christian Post does not do themselves any favors with that article. I’ve read his “repentance”, and it is mostly “I’m sorry I got caught.” He does not seem to realize that his preferred job of “pastor” is to “shepherd” people, and his behavior vis-a-vis Harvest shows he’s got, shall we say, more than a little bit of growth to do before he ought to be trusted with that responsibility again. Ugh.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

If you don’t like MacDonald, don’t listen to him. What else can you do? Complain to people who agree with you?

Mark, the trouble with that is that having pastored (more or less) a mega-church, MacDonald has (or at least had) a lot of influence outside. So in a lot of places, you find out he’s a big influence (with people following his mistakes as well as his good ideas) well after you join a church.

That said, I am going to guess it’s going to get even more interesting, as the review of his compensation/Harvest financials shows a bunch of things that “aren’t exactly how an accountant skilled in auditing would have done it.”
