Bert Perry's picture why the central tendency of a statistic is not really indicative of the data.  Or, put differently, if you think that attitudes towards Christians are neutral to positive, you might do well to talk to Jack Philipps of Masterpiece Cake Shop.  These things proceed from the fringes, and hence the mean response is not where society is, at least absent repentance, going.  Already, people are campaigning to have churches that do not support "LGBT rights" (however defined) lose their tax exemptions, and even shut them down.
