It's Friday and this is SATIRE!!!!
I have yet to read anything on BB that I thought was funny. I get that he is trying to write satire and I find nothing offensive, it’s just not funny. No problem. I still have my daily “Arlo and Janis” and “Pickles” comic strips to entertain me.

….was the one about Andy Stanley learning that the New Testament is in the Bible—evidently something about his recent series about “Who Needs God” suggested to the author that Stanley was going soft on large parts of Scripture being authoritative. I don’t follow Stanley enough to “get it”, but it suggests an interesting trend might be afoot that we’d do well to pay attention to.

OK the AWANA one was lame! But if this isn’t funny to you, you need counseling (and you probably know where you can get it!)
Seminary Now Offering Degree In Celebrity Pastoring:
Seminarians wishing to attain a bachelor’s degree in being a wildly celebrated public figure within Christian culture will be asked to tackle a heavy course load packed with classes like “Shifting The Blame For Your Public Scandals To Others,” “Turning Your Forgettable Quotes Into Image Macros,” and “Finding The Right Ghostwriter.”
Those who pursue advanced level classes will find themselves training under the instruction of some of the most adored celebrity pastors today, with high-level courses like “Emanating An Aura Of Perfection,” “Ignoring Healthy Criticism,” “Advanced Elder Board Manipulation,” and “Count The Cost: Preparing For Your Eventual Fall From Grace.”
“We’re excited to offer this new, unique approach to training up-and-coming celebrity pastors,” school Dean Crane Harrington said in a YouTube video announcing the new set of classes. “For too long, Christian educators have ignored the massive opportunity we have to shape the next generation of famous, superstar pastors—but no longer.”
Donn, if you don’t even get a kick out of “Hell Prepares for Deep Freeze Ahead of Possible Chicago Cubs World Series Run”, you just might have a broken funny bone…but that said, I even liked the AWANA one. I’ve seen kids, including my own, just freaking out over the little “jewels” they earn and the points they get for the “AWANA Store” to the point you would think that they WERE indeed trying to avoid Purgatory.
Some of ‘em you’ve got to be there—like the question I raised about Andy Stanley—but it beautifully illustrates our foibles.

Where did you get that old photo? That was taken when I was young and good looking.

….I looked that good at the end of a long week at work!

I heard of two pastors whose actions were considered funny by the community in which they served.
One pastor, needing to feed his family, shot a seagull (that’s illegal) and tried to cook it, thinking it was a duck.
Another pastor accidently shot two deer (only one is was allowed by law). He turned himself in and avoided prosecution.
Both were in small towns where the stories quickly became public and the pastors became the objects of much local laughter and teasing.
One pastor took great offense and quit his church because he felt that people didn’t respect him. The other laughed along with the town folk and had a long and fruitful ministry in that place.
Which one describes you when people laugh at you?
