Facebook Reportedly Designates Violent Pro-Abortion “Jane’s Revenge” as Dangerous Extremist Group

The Intercept claims an internal memo describes Jane’s Revenge as “a far-left extremist group that has claimed responsibility on its website for an attack against an anti-abortion group’s office in Madison, Wisconsin in May 2022. The group is responsible for multiple arson and vandalism attacks on pro-life institutions.” - The Intercept

Discussion

Senator Grassley has raised concerns that the FBI does not seem all that concerned about all the attacks on the pregnancy crisis centers that do not preform abortions. It breaks my heart that there are so many pro-abortion people out there, but it really hurts to know that there are people that want to burn down places that help women during a difficult time of their lives. What a reminder that there is evil in this world.

While it immediately feels good to see the shoe on the other foot for a change, I agree with some of the concerns in the Intercept piece. The real solution is for FB to cease censoring all speech that doesn’t violate the law. As long as FB is protected by Section 230 provisions, any censorship at all is a problem. If they want to be only a “private company” that is not subject to censorship provisions, I think that would be fine as long as they then lose any protections from Section 230.

It is indeed heartbreaking that so many people support abortion on demand for any reason. However, if both parties can freely speak about their positions, then arguments can be answered and a case made for the anti-abortion position (not that I think FB is actually the best place for such arguments, but all parties should be able to argue for their position if any are).
