Admitting affair, Tullian Tchividjian resigns as pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian

[Aaron Blumer]It would be tempting to blame this on his theology of sanctification and Christian living in general—if it weren’t for the fact that so many who preach discipline and struggle have strayed into the same sins. There is probably not a lesson to learn here on that particular point.
I hope for a season of healing and “rebooting” in his life.
Much appreciated, Aaron, given previous debates here about his theology. Thank you for setting the tone.
From my reading of the Psalms yesterday, my prayer and godly hope for marriages:
Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
and righteousness looks down from the sky.
I personally find these stories very disconcerting; I hate them. They are deep betrayals of many people’s trust— from both spouses. I appreciate Don’s leveling. I am comforted by reminding myself of the many faithful marriages I have witnessed in my home church. I am also reminded to keep my eyes upon the Lord, that nothing can take us outside His love and power to redeem though consequences are appropriately severe and life-altering.

Whatever possibility there was of reconciliation between Tullian and his wife had to have been nearly totally destroyed by his “confession.”
