Why We Should Stop Capitalizing Pronouns Referring to God
I love the practice of capitalizing pronounce referencing God. As a former grammar teacher, pastor and grad school prof, it has been engrained into my own writing and study throughout my life. Every time I hit a pronoun referring to God, it requires me to pause and reflect as I capitalize it. In that, I can experience a moment of worship. Sounds odd, but I have always enjoyed the ritual. It requires focus and attention beyond myself — even if only briefly. Not being a legalist about it, but some traditions don’t need thrown by the wayside just “because”.
