I'm certain he's well aware of what Jeffress means, and has encountered strong and reasoned opposition from evangelical Christians during his missionary period, and has strong exclusivistic feelings of his own about his own false religion. This remark is nothing more than a play for his base in Utah, in conjunction with his troubled Senate candidacy.
