I’ve seen this happen locally, in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area.
One example is a struggling, declining church whose members voted to become the 3rd campus of a nearby large church. From typical attendance of 150 in 2007 (the year of the merger), that church’s location now has average attendance of at least 2,000.
