Bob Jones University invited Mike Hess, GARBC national representative, to speak in its chapel April 2

“In addition to speaking in chapel, Hess met with Steve Pettit, president of Bob Jones University, to discuss how the GARBC and BJU can work together to serve churches.” - GARBC

Discussion

Based on my experience with GARBC churches, including being a member of one, I have no problem with this.

But, I do recognize there will be some who potentially view this as a further sliding away from BJU’s historical practices. First, girls can now wear pants and now this.

I’m a pastor in a GARBC church, so I’m just fine with that invite!

Tyler is a pastor in Olympia, WA and works in State government.

A sure sign … that the GARBC has slipped into apostasy

:)

The pastor who baptized me in 1960, was Dr. Paul Tassell, who went on to serve a long tenure as the National Representative of the GARBC. His PhD was from BJU, and he encouraged my father to attend BJU. The relationship between BJU and the GARBC has a long history. This recent development would appear to be re-establishing a formerly good relationship.

Good for BJU and for the GARBC. May their cooperation and associations increase and prosper!
