The Regulative Principle - A Baptist Doctrine

I’ve met Peter Masters and respect him very much. But my point is not in the article the Wiki article links, but in what the Wiki article says. Of course Wiki is confused, that is the nature of Wiki. But I think the paragraph I quoted is a fair statement of the correct approach and reflects what pastork said in his post. This doesn’t sound like the RPW as usually trumpeted by its supporters and, to restate my earlier points:
- Nowhere in Scripture do you have any definitive worship paradigm expressed for the NT church
- No practice that edifies the body of Christ and is consistent with the spirit of Scripture is prohibited for public worship
To assert the contrary is to assert something the Scriptures do not assert, ergo, it is to assert the commandments of men as authoritative as the word of God. That is why I am opposed to the RPW as usually stated.
