Schaap’s argument (at least in part) is that his sentence should be reduced because his attorneys failed to emphasize that the victim had prior sexual experience and was “aggressive”?????????
I’m apparently not speechless because I’m commenting on it, but this boggles the mind. I don’t blame him for wanting out of jail sooner, but one both a tactical and spiritual level this seems like a greivous error. On the legal side, blaming the victim isn’t likely to win him any favors. On the spiritual side, it does not sound much like Bible repentance.
Even if Schaap’s current assertion had any merit whatsoever, his own words and conduct, as documented in the Sentencing Memorandum, undermines this claim.
In Genesis 39 Joseph was confronted by an “aggressive” female: he chose to flee temptation and to do right.

Joseph had Godly character. Schaap has none!

NewA lesson from Joseph
