“there is another damaging variety of focus on the extraordinary, one that minimizes most sin by emphasizing some. One way this happens is when some forms of behavior are routinely singled out for censure.” - Ken Brown

A bit more from Ken’s article…

It’s interesting and convicting to note that the New Testament vice lists contain stark examples of depravity - orgies, witchcraft, debauchery, theft, murder, etc. – but those same passages also identity more common sins like lying, anger, selfish ambition, hatred, jealousy, greed, etc. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:5; Revelation 21:15). Murder garners more attention than lying, but the latter can be more dangerous precisely because it’s so normal.

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
