"Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves," he said. "Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are."

One can see how demagogues can demonize a whole group of religious people and deem them enemies of the state.  Nero comes to mind.

The totalitarianism that persecutes people deemed "the opposition" begins with simple words like our Governor spoke. This is not the first time he has said something like this. Each time, he seems to become bolder. Will the citizens heed the forewarnings and seek to bring about change through peaceful and lawful actions, or shall we be fooled until it is too late?

Hitler comes to mind, as does Josef Stalin. I wonder how far this "political correctness" thing will really go?

On a side note: Interestingly enough, New York state has the greatest debt-per-percent-of-GDP of ANY state, and the most gross public debt per GDP ( California has the most, overall )...a well-run place, huh? http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/compare_state_spending_2014pH0D

I feel sympathy for anyone who lives there...similar to my state of Illinois. Sad
