Well, I guess in the same way I saw in a world class amateur boxing match in the late 1980s, where the Warsaw Pact boxer landed several low blows against his U.S. opponent, which were in turn ignored by the Warsaw Pact referee. The referee disqualified the U.S. boxer when he objected to this.

To me, that’s part of what is at stake with the notion of impeaching/convicting Trump for his role in encouraging the protests that became a riot. We had a string of similar actions by the left regarding the George Floyd/BLM protests/riots, similar actions by those encouraging protests/riots with regards to Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation, and of course that follows about two decades of Democrats ignoring Occupy and “Anti”-fa riots for decades.

The message; we will look the other way when it’s people voting for us who are doing the rioting, but we will move Heaven and Earth when it’s people who might vote for you. So what’s going on is that protests growing into riots are becoming a bludgeon wielded by the far left to punish their opponents and threaten their way into getting their way.

I don’t know precisely how to fix this—it would help if CNN would acknowledge riots when their own video shows burning buildings in the background—but probably the better response to leftists claiming “moral high ground” is “your side has been ignoring Occupy and Antifa riots for two decades.”

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
