Unchristian Thinking about Christian Weddings
“When people with moderate incomes are brow-beaten into spending like they are rich, they remain poor forever.forever. The same goes for the wedding and reception.” - P&D
I am glad that the three of my children who have married have not turned into "Bridezilla", and all of them had nice weddings and receptions for a moderate price. There is, of course, the example of John 2, where it's clear that a wedding is an occasion for a celebration, but at the same time, too many "coronation weddings" forget the purpose of a wedding--and it strikes me that for too many of those cases, there's going to be nothing new on the honeymoon besides wearing rings and worrying about the debt incurred for the wedding.
And on the light side, the newspaper of record notes that the price target for an engagement ring has increased from two months' salary to two tanks of gas. Ouch! Young men should consider hybrids, I guess...
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
