AI and the Death of Wisdom
“Scripture explains that knowing is a lot more than possessing facts. More specifically, the book of Proverbs describes wisdom as something that comes only from rigour: the rigour of study, of obedience, and of experience. Wisdom is a gift given by God.” - David de Bruyn
I am warning my family to avoid the AI summaries that are generated for all kinds of things. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they are bad, but using AI today has the same risk as using Cliff's Notes back when I was in college; it results in a person lacking the ability to do the task at hand for himself. And often, I notice that there is a question of whether the automation actually makes sense; I am reminded of a proverb about never automating a flawed process. But since AI makes it so easy to do, we're looking at all kinds of automations of processes that never should have existed in the first place.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
