Erika Kirk forgives her husband's killer: 'It's what Christ did, what Charlie would do'
“After describing how, ‘on the cross, our Savior said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,”’ she said, ‘I forgive him,’ leading to heartfelt applause from the audience.” - CPost
I watched most of the service yesterday. The gospel was clearly given multiple times by many people. Even Marco Rubio addressed the problem of sin and our need for a savior and how that was found in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was encouraging to know that the president, vice president and much of his cabinet were all there to hear the gospel. Further, millions of viewers tuned in to watch and they too got to hear the gospel. Let us all join in prayer regardless of our political leanings. Let us pray that the gospel shared yesterday would bear fruit.
Let us especially pray for President Trump. Regardless of our views about his political decisions, his speech yesterday showed that he is clearly struggling with understanding the forgiveness and grace that both Charlie and Erika Kirk demonstrated through their lives. Although he has not replaced hate with love- by his own admission- he seemed to be struggling with his feelings and he even admitted that Charlie would not approve. He also suggested that Erika was going to have to work on him. I pray she does and that he listens. The apostle Paul kicked against the goads and he changed. I pray a man named Donald changes as well.
