“The lack of vocal opposition by the (American) Senate to the nomination of multiple candidates whose lifestyle fits the definition of moral turpitude is an apt reflection of what Alasdair MacIntyre has described in his book After Virtue.” - Mere Orthodoxy

NewThis has been my beef with…

Wed, 12/11/24

This has been my beef with how the evangelical community is treating Trump, MAGA..... I am not against necessarily voting for these candidates, or that they present a better alternatives. What bothers me is that I feel that we are watering down the moral high ground. The church is too scared to speak out because of their fear that it will erode that candidate and they will be stuck with the alternative. This has permeated into our congregations where the message is watered down and they support not only the candidates, but also the behaviors. I was utterly surprised at the outpouring of support that I saw around Matt Gaetz in my social circle of Christian friends. Many who went to fundamentalist schools and some who are current Christians leaders or pastors in this movement. The fact that numerous lawmakers on both sides of the fence talked about their concern for Matt and that it was well known on the floor that Matt would publicly share his escapades with questionable women. We as the church should be the loudest voices in speaking out against the lack of morality within the public circle, instead of the loudest voices supporting the candidate.
