ERLC announcement reversed; Leatherwood remains; trustee chair out

Within hours of releasing a statement on Monday evening (July 22) saying Brent Leatherwood had been “removed” from his position as president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, the organization announced the following morning that Leatherwood remains in the position and the chair of the ERLC’s Executive Committee, Kevin Smith, had resigned. The Baptist Paper will release a follow-up story as more details are available.

The ERLC has jumped the shark.

Some days there’s just no keeping up with SBC. 😏

Whatever is going on, it’s better than firing a guy for simply observing that a president from “the other party” did one good thing. Hopefully, that was never the intent to begin with, but if it was and they rethought that, good for them.

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.
