Funeral service held June 15 for Paul Pressler

“The service seems to be what prompted news of his June 7 death to be made public. He was 94, and has been at the center of controversy regarding sexual abuse allegations in recent years.” - The Baptist Paper

Discussion

It strikes me that, just as in the Michael Jackson case, we need some category corresponding to allegations which have a fair amount of corroborating evidence. In both cases, both Jackson and Pressler admitted spending time naked with juveniles, with Pressler making the (false) claim that it was just a "European" thing. Pressler also had a letter of rebuke from a church he'd served and other evidence against him. It was enough so that the SBC made a settlement with some of his accusers.

Perhaps a comment my college roommate made about the Jackson case can be applied to Pressler; "Whatever the legal merits of the case, he's guilty of extremely bad judgment."

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
