Solzhenitsyn’s Graduation Speech Revisited

“Solzhenitsyn pointed to the lack of great statesmen as evidence of cultural collapse. While there are certainly courageous individuals worthy of our respect, he clarified, consider how society had defined greatness in the past.” - Breakpoint

Discussion

Is right here. One of my first assignments in college rhetoric was to read Solzhenitsyn's speech, as well as a number of responses to it. It was a big deal back in the day.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

Solzhenitsyn is probably my favorite secular author and one of the great men of his times. It’s a shame how few young people are aquatinted with him.
