Now that Charles Stanley is not here, Andy Stanley's abandonment of Biblical teaching will become more pronounced. Strange that, shortly before his death, Charles Stanley told his son that he couldn't be more proud of him.

I’m glad they were able to have those moments.

When you lose someone you love, or you’re saying goodbye to someone you love and someone you know very well, it changes your values. As for Charles and Andy… I wouldn’t presume to know what Charles should or shouldn’t have said to him near the end of their time together.

I do know that we don’t always help our kids best—especially our adult children—by voicing points of disagreement we have with them (that they probably already know) or criticizing the weaknesses we see (that they also probably already know).
