"[S]upport for same-sex marriage is at its highest point since Pew Research Center began polling on this issue"

“Based on polling in 2017, a majority of Americans (62%) support same-sex marriage, while 32% oppose it.” Pew

I wonder how much of the result is the difference between “support” meaning “I would actively campaign for its retention if its existence were threatened” and “I don’t see it being a threat that I need to campaign against it.”

I actually fall in the latter category; yes, God is going to hold accountable those who have misused His good gift of marriage and mis-defined it, but at the same time, I don’t see a huge threat simply because the purpose of marriage is to protect “weaker vessels” like women and children, and there are no inherently weaker vessels in a homosexual relationship. I looked up the numbers last week, and it’s something like 10% of homosexuals and bisexuals who are actually “married”. If you don’t have kids and a wife to protect, why risk the marriage penalty and such in the tax code?
