Christian leaders call for criminal justice reform
“Spearheaded by Prison Fellowship, the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, National Association of Evangelicals and the Colson Center for Worldview, the Justice Declaration seeks to rally evangelicals and other Christians against mass incarceration and for alternative sentencing for criminals who don’t pose a significant threat to society.”

I agree that long imprisonments for theft and the like are wrong, and that we need to build up the family among the poor, yada yada and all that. Now, how we gonna do that? Gimme a plan, Stan.
Some starters:
Look through tax, welfare, and regulatory codes and eliminate marriage penalties.
Stop subsidizing daycare for the middle and upper classes. (Mom in the home makes a huge difference)
Change legal codes to favor restitution over incarceration—say painting over graffiti and monetary repayment—for nonviolent offenses.
End the DOJ’s program of penalizing schools for “over-punishing” certain minorities based on “disparate impact” analyses. Kids who learn they don’t get punished as kids learn that lesson into adulthood.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
