Mark Driscoll sued for misusing Mars Hill Church tithes

Four former members of the now-defunct Mars Hill Church are suing its controversial former pastor Mark Driscoll, accusing him of “a continuing pattern of racketeering activity.”

Discussion

I am guessing that there are a number of churches out there where, whatever the official form of church government is, the pastor is effectively a bishop with no pope to restrain him, and has used that power to hide the details of the church budget, including his compensation, from even the trustees/elders/deacons. If you get that power, I would bet a nickel it’s hard to hold back from using it, to the shame of God’s people.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
