Psalm 37:4: "This is one of a handful of Bible passages that we treat as if it were a giant spiritual blank check"
Not only in Psalm 37:4, but in other texts where this similar concept is advanced, there is powerful room for meditation. As I grow in Christlikeness, as I image Him just a little bit more clearly than I did yesterday, my desires are bent to His, my loves are subsumed in His, and my passions become His passions. In a way that is only a shadow now, we receive the desires of our hearts- because those desires are His desires, those loves are His loves, and those passions are His passions. Absolutely astounding given the fallenness that I live with on a daily basis, but absolutely exciting as I see the work of progressive sanctification in my own life.
