The Sovereign Citizen Movement
“Churches should be ready to stand against the SC doctrine, because people who start to believe it will likely be drawn away to follow these false teachers instead of Christ (Acts 20:30).” - Matt Postiff

A friend at church noted that a radio show he listens to was talking about the possibility of "exempting" one's self from taxes, upon which I reminded him that the IRS emphatically rejects that notion, and has a slew of court cases where the judiciary has affirmed their interpretation of the law.
All in all, it strikes me that the "sovereign citizen" movement is simply a "statistical tail" of an understandable reaction against government overreach. One of the things we need to learn as Christians, and as conservatives, is that a lot of people will agree with us if we set a reasonable goal, but those same people will recoil if we overreach.
And a lot of times, that overreach makes absolutely no sense. Knowing that there are (Putin, Xi, Khameini, etc..) any number of world leaders who are going to use their power to afflict us, precisely why we would want to withhold taxes from those who would defend us is beyond me. Let's not throw out the baby with the bath-water.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
