What evangelicals say they want from a second Trump term

So true as evidenced by Matt Gaetz as Trump's nomination for US Attorney General. What about his qualifications? His Experience? What about Meritocracy? Gaetz only actively practiced law for one year with absolutely no prosecutor experience. Prosecutor experience is a bare minimum for becoming an AG, especially at the top level and Gaetz has none. Nothing.

My fellow conservatives constantly complain about DEI hires and the lack of qualified leaders that are promoted by the Democratic party and throughout society leading to incompetency in government, business, and education. If this goes through, the Republicans will have lost their credibility in their arguments against DEI and will have lost the moral high ground because it will show that Meritocracy was never the real issue with opposing DEI because Meritocracy was only a front. Replacing Meritocracy with Loyalty leads to some of the worst decisions made in our country.

Not only is Gaetz inexperienced, he is also the subject of an ethics investigation by House Ethics Committee. Speaker Mike Johnson is requesting that the committee not release the report because "I think it’s a terrible breach of protocol and tradition and the spirit of the rule". I believe there may be some additional reasons that he's not saying. If there's nothing to hide in the report, then why not let it be released? If the report reveals no wrongdoing it could only help Gaetz, not hurt.

I can think of any number of eminently qualified people in the past who cratered in DC (by my opinion and often that of others) because their instincts are all wrong, and I can think of a bunch of others who cratered simply because they were not ready. Pete Buttigieg couldn't fill the potholes in South Bend, so exactly why he was qualified for Transportation is beyond me--same thing for Federico Pena, who ran DIA 4x over budget to...'qualify'...himself for the same job in the 1990s. Hard to figure out.

That said, Gaetz....he was a firebrand with the wrong instincts before the ethics allegations came out,so now the guy would be a walking, breathing target if he were confirmed. No matter how good he otherwise would be--and the point of lack of experience and temperament is well taken--that would torpedo his effectiveness. I also have some serious reservations about Hegseth for Defense, and Gabbard for National Intelligence. Just people who don't really see what is important, IMO.
