Amazon’s ‘Shiny Happy People’ Has Lessons to Teach, If We’re Willing to Listen

“It can be messy and confusing when outsiders poke around and try to tell a story about the church. This is especially true when the focus is on some group or ‘scandal’ most of us are already embarrassed about but don’t think fairly represents us or our faith.” - TGC

That Mr. Harris is speaking of how, without really knowing it, he was coming to a lot of the same conclusions that Gothard did. To me, that's how Gothardism propagates--you get someone who went to the Basic seminar, or knew someone who did and got hooked on some of the ideas, talking over coffee or something, and then all of a sudden, you've got a bunch of people with the ideas of Gothardism who have no idea where they learned it.

Probably best not to pillory Gothard himself, but rather to point out where he is wrong, so that those who are "unknowing Gothardites" can see what's going on.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
