Maybe angry Christians should try chanting 'Pray for Biden' instead of 'Let's go Brandon'?
“Are we supposed to stand up to lies? Of course. We have every right and responsibility to expose lies for what they are. … The question is, ‘What are we going to say and how are we going to say it?’ It doesn’t help our cause when people see Christians acting like the people that we’re trying to oppose.” - GetReligion

Police often and regularly “ignore” violations of laws. So do District Attorney’s or whatever they are called where you are. People REGULARLY get charged with lesser crimes, or passed over for crimes they did. The police REGULARLY do not arrest people. I have more than once driven by a police officer while I was speeding and she did not pull me over…
Many people see the problems in Central America as a result of our behavior. Americans by the millions shoot up heroin, snort cocaine, smoke crack, do fentanyl, etc… our collective behavior causes drug lords to set up shop in places they can, like Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. This causes crime to spike in those countries as people are forced into poverty or enslaved in one way or the other to support the drug trade. Since we collectively are doing little to stop this, many feel people should be able to come here. You m ight disagree, but that is the logic.
If a president does not have to enforce laws because of politics or if he can just enforce things that are not laws because of politics are we electing a president or a dictator? Further would the answer to that question be different depending on which political party the president was affiliated with or should we have the same view regardless of who is president?

What law is not being enforced? Tom Homan’s hack opinion piece? The president did not say to ignore the laws. Read the memorandum. It states that a 100 day pause on removals should take place until policies are reviewed and a surge of forces can be supplied to deal with the overwhelming numbers at the border. Apprehensions continue to take place. I don’t see anything illegal taking place in the memo and is not unusal to memos from both parties. It can be challenged in court if needed and if the court rules than the memo will be reversed.

Sure, we have a huge drug issue. Now let’s ask a basic question; does opening up the borders make this problem better or worse? I’d argue it makes the issue far, far worse by expanding the supply of drugs to the U.S. With annual opioid deaths of about 100,000, that’s a lot of blood on Biden’s hands, don’t you think?
Worse yet, by paying people not to work and putting people out of work with excessive regulations, Biden is actively creating the despair that leads to drug abuse.
Probably not legally actionable, but there are a LOT of people suffering and dying on both sides of the border due to Biden’s actions. To draw a picture, my kids were looking into a summer mission in Ensenada, just south of Tijuana, and due to the exploding crime rates and drug trade, the whole state of Baja California is more dangerous, statistically speaking, than Detroit or even Gary.

[Bert Perry]the whole state of Baja California is more dangerous, statistically speaking, than Detroit or even Gary.
You are essentially rehasing anti-immigration theories. We saw this after 9/11 again with Trump…. It is the same theories hashed over and over to promote this idea that America is safer and better when we can get to the point of locking down the borders. The facts don’t really support it, and I am glad that my family got a chance to come to America. Crime and death’s in Mexico were rapidly increasing under Trump. Opioid deaths have been increasing year over year for decades. This is not a Biden problem. I am not saying that Biden is doing great at it, but neither was Trump. Arrests at the Mexico border is higher under Biden than Trump. Biden has kept in place the “Stay in Mexico” policy that Trump implemented…. We are not really discussing immigration policies. We are just hashing through Hannity talking points which aim to support Trump at all costs and degrade Biden policies at all costs through the cherry picking of data. Immigration has been a mess for decades and no administration (Republican or Democrat) has done anything about it. And no, Trump didn’t really do anything about it, except to repurpose white supremacy statements. Trump only build 15 miles of new border wall where none existed before and he didn’t get Mexico to pay for it. What he build wasn’t that impressive.
St. Louis is just as deadly and dangerous as Baja California.
I have no idea where you’re getting your information, but I’d suggest better sources.
President Biden didn’t “keep Stay in Mexico in place.”. He was ordered to reinstate it by the Supreme Court. That occurred in August of 2021. He acted with great zeal, nonchalantly “reinstating” the policy a whole three and a half months after having his hand slapped by SCOTUS.
Even then, he hasn’t reinstated the policy to mirror what the Bad Orange Man had instituted according to this Washington Post article. Hopefully, you don’t consider the article from that bastion of conservatism affectionately known as the WaPo to be - in your words - a “hack opinion piece.”
Why the ad hominem attack on the Homan piece? What do you substantively dispute? Do you seriously think Biden’s memorandum would have been limited to 100 days? Seriously, from where are you getting your information?
If you want to set immigration policy, win the presidential and congressional elections. When the Democrats win they are going to do things you don’t want done, and vice versa. Deal with it bro… Stop claiming everything the other party does is “illegal” so you can get the pitchforks fired up.

Why would you misrepresent/lie/create a straw man, Mark? Where did I claim “everything the other party does is illegal”? Everything I’ve presented is factual and singular in focus. What does lying say about your credibility?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if Congress has passed immigration legislation, have they not “set immigration policy”? Do we not already have immigration law already in force? Should the executive branch execute said law? Or are you on board with them ignoring it and worst case, violating it?
The question, David, is why those arrests are skyrocketing. The answer is that it’s widely (and rightly) perceived that Biden won’t deport those arrested, but rather will give them a plane ticket to the city of their choice without as much as a criminal background check or medical examination.
I’m all for legal immigration, but that is just insanely stupid, and yes, it’s killing a lot of people on both sides of the border. Trump wasn’t perfect, but he at least figured out that if we made it marginally more difficult to come here illegally, we’d get less illegal immigration.

Cool your jets. I’m not lying. Just relax. Here is the point. A Democrat whose position on immigration is different than yours runs the White House and Congress. That means they do things you don’t like. Making a big deal over this one man’s interpretation of a statute is pointless. Focus on something else.
I think it is time for a basic Civics lesson. Laws are not made by the president, they must originate in the legislative branch. The president is the executive branch and he does have the power to veto laws unless his veto is overridden by a 2/3 vote of both houses of congress. His job is then to enforce the laws, not make the laws. The judicial branch has the job to interpret the laws, not make the laws. Sadly progressives have tried to redefine our rule of law to say that the president and the judicial branch should be able to make the laws. This is part of the reason why progressives get so frustrated when debating those of us who understand civics. That is also why so many of us are frustrated when we see the basics of civics being thrown out by both major political parties. That is why I asked if we were electing a president or a dictator. Upon the founding of this country the president’s powers were very limited. It seems that has been changing more and more with each generation.

Help me understand where I “claimed everything the other party does is illegal so I can get the pitchforks fired up.”
Can you cite an example from this thread? Please help me understand. I think I’ve remained pretty consistently focused and limited on one issue. If you can cite an example where I “claimed everything the other party does is illegal,” I will readily repent of my exaggeration.
If I haven’t done that, I’ll leave that between you and the Lord.
things in general. I was not speaking about just you, but the entire way the Republican and Christian/Republican slant is against Biden right now. Everything he does it wrong.
Listen to any conservative radio program. Shoot, a sermon series that plays on the Bott Radio network by a big ministry in Tennessee goes on and on about Biden. That’s the larger framework I am speaking about.
I often use “you” in the general sense (plural), not just specific.
You care so much about this one article. Its just the cherry on top of a huge sundae for me. There is a huge anti-Biden/Democrat thing going out there that is delusional. That’s what I’m concerned about.

Duh.
Are you all really this obtuse? When a Democrat is in office the way the laws are enforced are different from how a Republican does it. Stop acting like crimes are being committed. It gets really old reading and hearing day after day how criminal the Democrats are. I’ve been hearing it all my adult life. But then Trump is parading around acting the fool and nary a wimper from the legal crowd. That’s what annoyed and annoys me. And the people who fool themselves into thinking Jan 6 was just another protest rally… oh my.
This is part of the problem. A Republican reads a law, thinks it means such and such, and rules that way. A Democrat comes along and reads something significantly different. He rules another. Is that difference criminal? Ususally not, but it gets used by BOTH parties to get the base fired up with pitchforks to “kill” the other party.
