2021 Bible Reading Plans

“Whether you are looking to complete the Bible in a year or focus on different books and themes, we hope these [more than a dozen] plans will be of great help to you, your family, and your church.” - Ligonier

Discussion

As an advocate of some kind of Bible reading plan (even if you get behind, keep going), I appreciate this list. I’ve used several of them in the past for our church people, it is great to find some additional variations.

I have an old, second-hand copy of Kubo that fulfills the same purpose. I must toss a plug in here and say that, if you translate long sections (if not the whole passage) of your preaching text, you can safely cut the umbilical cord tying you to so many (but not all) commentaries. The very best way to really “get” a passage is to study and translate it yourself. I recently translated almost all of Luke 1 for two sermons, and it was great fun. I’m now doing a series in Zechariah, and I’ll be translating large portions from the LXX for fun along the way.

If you’ve been to seminary, I’d also encourage you to read through your Greek NT at least every other year. A great companion for this endeavor is A New Reader’s Lexicon of the Greek New Testament by Michael H. Burer and Jeffrey E. Miller. I created my reading plan in Logos pretty simply and will be reading through my Greek NT this year during week days. I keep my weekends reserved either for other reading or for catching up.

I’m going to give that a try. I put in an order to Christian Book, they are shipping by Canada Post, so maybe it will get here in time for 2022!

I’m trying Kubo + GNT this year, along with some intentional review of some paradigms and 100 more vocab words. I’d like to be able to sight read the GNT with some degree of literacy by end of 2021. My syntax is pretty decent, I believe.
