Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC): “Plaintiff Fields incorrectly claims that the ABSC was in control of the church and the pastor and therefore should have known about and prevented the alleged abuse. … The ABSC denies ever exercising any control over Millcreek or any other Arkansas Baptist church.

The school found out about 2001 allegations two weeks ago, but the victim, Shielagh Clark, reported other assaults to the school in 2005. A BJU spokesman said “the university failed by not encouraging Clark to go to authorities at that time.” Clark did file a report with the Hyde Park Police Department in 2005….

The suit also alleges David Hyles once ordered her to his home when his wife was out of town and threatened to reveal her to the congregation as a “slut” and have her parents fired from their church&nbsp
