Doug Wilson: One of our responsibilities in these troubled times is to look at the cultural chess board while taking care to think three moves ahead. We need to look at our current conflicts in the light of the year of our Lord 2022. Those who do not anticipate the future are doomed to go through it, as Santayana didn’t quite say.

You will not have your robes on; you will all be entirely naked.

Doug Wilson: “Dear Pastor, you now have a limited number of options before you, and they all involve hills … If you know that you will fight, but only when it become absolutely necessary, then they will pick the terrain and you will be found defending Stupid Hill. Or you can resist now, and you select the terrain, and you can defend Shrewd Hill. Or you can go hide in those hills.”

Doug Wilson: So I ordered John Walton’s book The Lost World of Adam and Eve because I saw that it contained an excursus on Paul’s use of Adam by N.T. Wright. I received the book yesterday, read Wright’s contribution, was suitably appalled, and have come here to tell you about it.

Doug Wilson: A Calvinist explains the doctrines he holds, at the end of which explanation, his Arminian friend exclaims, “I could never worship a God like that!” The normal Calvinist response is that “you really ought to be willing to worship a God like that,” but the response ought rather to be “you do in fact already worship a God like that.”
