Trump statue ‘Don Colossus’ isn’t ‘golden calf' worship, Pastor Mark Burns claims

“The 22-foot bronze figure, covered in gold leaf, depicts Trump raising his fist in the gesture he made after surviving an assassination attempt in 2024. Titled “Don Colossus,” the statue was unveiled Wednesday at Trump National Doral, the president’s golf course in Miami, Florida” - CPost

I was thinking more along the lines of Nebuchadnezzar's statue from Daniel 3. We could agree, I guess, that it's not an idol per se, since there hasn't been a command to bow down and worship when one hears the music of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, and the like (Daniel 3:5), but at the same time, I think we can all agree that it's extraordinarily tacky, right up there with naming the Doral Country Club after himself.

Really, The Donald needs to remember Proverbs 27:2. If you do something commendable, others will get around to praising you soon enough. And if they're not, up your game and do something commendable.

Oops: looks like the newspaper of record is noting that people are supposed to bow down to the statue when they hear Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA". My mistake!

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
