Can you be a feminist and pro-life?

“the early feminists viewed abortion as yet another way in which a patriarchal society oppressed women. It was only in the 1960s that women’s groups embraced the idea of abortion as a right.”

….on how you define “feminist.” In my interaction with the subject—which started when my mom subscribed to Ms. Magazine back in the mid 1980s—there are a bunch of definitions, and perhaps the best way of approaching the subject is to simply ask the person you’re talking with about what their definition is. I would argue that—as many feminists put on their red “Handmaid’s Tale” cloaks—that a fundamental Baptist can be a feminist in that he cares deeply about the best interests of women and acts according to that motivation and knowledge about what really matters to women.

And in doing so, you might actually manage to defuse conflicts with those who are not “true believers” in one of the specific schools of feminism, which IMO would be the vast majority of those who call themselves “feminists”.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
