Appreciated those thoughts Jim. My wife and I have faced many of the same questions with her cancer. Even though she has had no known recurrence for 5 years as of this year, we know that there is no guarantee, and it definitely forced/forces us to look at our own mortality and time we have on earth in a different way.

I saw the urologist this am and here is the news:

  • Recap: I am 22 months post surgery and
  • 2 weeks post radiation (39 zappings)
  • Today: The bio-chemical marker for cancer is undetectable (as good as it gets)
  • I have radiation side effects that may take months to heal
  • If no great improvements in 2 months - to see a specialist
  • Next urology appointment is six months out
  • If the bio-chemical marker remains zero … will go to semi-yearly appointments
  • He doesn’t use the term “cured”
  • If bio-chemical marker is zero after a couple of years … annual appointments with blood work
  • No need for bone scans or other imaging as long as the bio-chemical marker remains zero
