….to Article 1, Section 1, of the United States Constitution, which states that lawmaking is the prerogative of the legislature? It will take time, but I expect this law to be struck down and HARD by the courts.

What’s at stake here is simple; abortion alone cannot support the nation’s 1800 or so abortionists. Do the math yourself: about $500/abortion, one million abortions, wages for an obstetrician start at about a quarter of a million bucks annually—and you’ve got to pay for a building, receptionist, anesthesia,a nd a bunch more. Demand simply isn’t big enough outside big cities and some big university towns. In the same way, pro-life activists have also made very clear that they will avoid patronizing hospitals and clinics that provide abortion.

So the only way abortion can survive outside the big city or university town is for there to be some sort of subsidy, whether from generous donors, or from the taxpayer. But you can’t just provide money for abortion—even pro-choice people will rebel at that—so you’ve got to pretend that an abortuary is the best place to get contraception, birth control, and the like.

And of course to do that, you’ve got to pretend that Planned Parenthood (1212 7th ST. NW in Rochester) is a better place to go than another medical provider based in Rochester, and things like that. It’s ludicrous, and if we make the point well, funding for Planned Parenthood will be gone, along with at least 2/3 of abortuaries in the country.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

The courts are no longer about the constitution, but about “public good”.
