6 Reasons Why Sexual Predators Target Churches
…..but perhaps it might be better to understand some of the approximate statistics about this. About one in four young ladies is molested, and about one in six young men. The range of actions is from inappropriate touch (say hand on the inner thigh) all the way to forcible rape. About one in 30 men are perpetrators—the average man who molests girls molests about eight, the man who molests boys molests about 240, according to the statistics I heard.
The upshot of this is that you most likely have some people in your church that have been sexually abused, and if your church has more than 100-200 people in it, it likely has someone who has committed this crime attending.
Now, given that we likely have both perpetrators and victims represented at the churches we love, are we going to take reasonable precautions to prevent the abuse for happening at our churches, and also to help those who have been victimized, or who have been victimizers? It’s really that simple.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
