We’ll see how this goes… so far it seems like a lot of the coverage has been mostly repeating the press releases and lawyers from the chaplains’ side. The most i saw from the other side was the one line from the VA about these two baptist chaplains “bullying other classmates and refusing to honor other faith groups.” Chaplains sign on knowing they have to agree to work in a pluralistic environment and provide care to people from other faiths in a way that is supportive to their free exercise, including maintaining constructive relationships with chaplains from these other groups. So we’ll see what the whole truth is when this gets to court, but these baptist chaplains may have brought some of their own trouble on by their behavior. And it seems like some endorsing boards may be contributing to the hostile environment.
