Every time somebody does something practical now, the idealists call it pragmatism.
Why did the chicken cross the road? Because he was a pragmatist. (He should have stood his ground.)

I suppose Cal thinks it would be “principled” to nominate an evangelical who doesn’t know beans about how to run a country or to nominate an evangelical who won’t win and hand the country over to someone who is basically a radical.
[Cal] Despite evidence that politics (and sports) cannot deliver America from its collective sins, evangelicals repeatedly search for an earthly savior. So desperate are they to find this deliverer that they have glommed onto the Catholic Santorum,

Straw man, Cal. Come on. You’re smarter than that. Nobody’s looking for a savior. We’re just looking for a decent leader.

As for “faith and not by sight,” faith in what? Has God told us that He will bless us if we embrace a false disjunction that says “Don’t seek wise leadership. Preach the gospel”?
We must do both.
