Pint-Sized Preacher: a true calling for ministry?

I’ve never been able to support ‘preacher boy’ competitions and such. Does anyone ever try to find out if these kids are truly regenerate? It seems the only qualification for ‘ministry’ that children need to have is showing up for church. I find it highly inappropriate to groom children for ministry before they’ve been born again and discipled thoroughly.
