Don Johnson's tribute to his Father

Thanks for the link, Jim. You always give me quite a boost in readership when you link to me!

I hope that my tribute to my dad is a blessing to some. My sister and I were talking about our dad today and how involved he was in our lives. It is truly the grace of God that did that - there were no books on parenting in those days and he didn’t have a great role model in my grandfather, unfortunately. My grandfather, my sister says, ‘was mean.’ But he did make a profession of faith late in life. In any case, my dad loved the Lord and wanted his children to do the same.

A prayer request for any who think of it, we have a relative who isn’t planning on attending the funeral. He has been very resistant to the gospel over the years (despite a godly mother). Pray that he would attend. My brother will be preaching and I will be doing the eulogy (a lot of the material from my article.) He’ll get the gospel from both of us if he attends.

The service is Wednesday at 2pm Mountain time, interment is the next day (family plot is 2 and a half hours away from our home town).

Anyway, thanks for the interest and if you do think of it, I’d really appreciate the prayers.

Maranatha!
Don Johnson
