"An anti-Christian chapter in Western history is about to begin"
The coming evangelical collapseThere are three kinds of evangelical churches today: consumer-driven megachurches, dying churches, and new churches whose future is fragile. Denominations will shrink, even vanish, while fewer and fewer evangelical churches will survive and thrive.Editor: The article is by the late Michael Spencer (the Internet Monk). Note how a blogger interacted with that article today.“Evangelical”: Does It Matter? If those who occupy roughly the same theological terrain as Fuller decide to keep calling ourselves Evangelicals, despite our decision not to promote inerrancy and despite our inclusive stance on women in ministry, etc. do we need to start more self-consciously staking a claim to the title? Do we need to start advocating for a different way to be Evangelical, a non-Fundamentalist, perhaps post-conservative strand of “Evangelical” that offers an alternative to the definitions being generated by our brothers [sorry, it’s mostly brothers and not sisters! ] to the right of us?
James Hollandsworth interacted with Spencer’s article http://eternalviewpoint.com/?p=788] here , earlier this year. I recommend reading his commentary. You will find it to be thought-provoking in a helpful way.
