George Rekers Resigns from NARTH after Gay Prostitute's Claims
Psychologist Resigns from NARTH after Gay Prostitute’s Claims“I confessed to the Lord and to my family that I was unwise and wrong to hire this travel assistant after knowing him only one month before the trip and not knowing whether he was more than a person raised in a Christian home,” Rekers said. “I also confessed to the Lord and to my family the sin of thereby putting myself into a vulnerable situation where I tragically became subject to false allegations.”FRC Statement on Dr. George Rekers
the first person rekers decides to sue is going to subpoena the escort and rekers will lose a lot more than just the court case.
Matthew 10:16, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
When I went to college, I was taught that there were two things a Pastor should stay away from: 1) The handling of money & 2) Being alone with another women
You would have figured that this guy would have added “single guys” to his list, seeing that he was an open target for this kind of thing. It wouldn’t surprise me if this “travel assistant” didn’t purposely try to defame this man’s testimony.

It is reported that he found the guy on the above website. I tried to go there just now and OpenDNS blocked the site. Here is what it showed:
[OpenDNS] This site was categorized in: Nudity, PornographyIf the reporting is true it makes me think Rekers is not as innocent as he proclaims.

cnn gives enough of a preview of the website as part of their coverage of the story. they blur the worst parts, but there’s enough for everyone to know what kind of a site it is. rekers denies using the website, but the escort’s story is a lot more believable.

Chris,
I never heard of this guy before this story, so I am not necessarily defending him, but what about this story makes “the escort’s story” “a lot more believable”?
I am curious as to why this is your take on this.
Thanks,
Frank

in the cnn interview, the escort produces a contract with both of their signatures and dates that looked authentic enough to cnn for them to include it in their story. but just in an intangible way, the escort seemed honest to me.
“I confessed to the Lord and to my family that I was unwise and wrong to hire this travel assistant after knowing him only one month before the trip and not knowing whether he was more than a person raised in a Christian home,”
Um…neither of those things are the issue. People hire travel assistants all the time, and Christians can (should?) hire non-Christians if they’re capable to do whatever task is needed.
This apology just strikes me as disingenuous at best and a blatant sidestep at worst.
