7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
This is our family’s banner. And as Jacob’s son, Joseph, said to his brothers, “You meant it for evil but God meant it for good” it is true too that poor, selfish or contrary decisions by governments can and do serve God’s purposes. While the evil of men is used by God in the lives of his people to accomplish his good, it certainly never lessens their accountability for their evil actions or the righteous opposition to such evil by good men. But where such evil exerts itself, it can only do so with the license of God as demonstrated by our Lord in his dialogue with Pilate recorded in John 19:
11Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.
