Your Advice Please: Digital Hymnals
Forum category
Help!
Due to a convergence of events (moves out of the community, having to care for an elderly parent, etc.), our once many-layered music ministry is running thin. We may have some Sundays without an instrument, or at least a flexible one.
We usually have a blended service with a praise band and some traditional hymns. Does anyone have experience with a digital hymnal or any other geeky stuff that might help fill the void? Please advise — I need to learn.

Ed,
Not sure what you are looking for but our church plant has made the decision to not purchase hymnals. We do however, project the music for virtually every song we sing. We use the services of www.digitalsongsandhymns.com] www.digitalsongsandhymns.com . They have a large catalog of already produces hymns and other corporate worship music. They also allow you to request 2 songs a week for production provide you fax or email the music. The rate is $1.00 a song.
If you are looking for canned accompaniment tracks I’m not much help.

I realize that this thread is a few months old, but I did want to recommend Lifeway Worship’s online accompaniment tracks here: http://www.lifewayworship.com. Lifeway has recorded the Baptist hymnal with full orchestral accompaniment plus quite a few praise and worship songs. There are hundreds of accompaniments available usually in a couple of different keys. In addition, many of the songs can be “mapped” to add or remove verses or choruses. Many have PowerPoint presentations available as well. Our church has been without a pianist for several years, and this site has been a great help to us. We actually have a touchscreen computer on stage to allow the song leader to easily play the songs. The quality is good and the prices are very fair (~$1.99). I seriously recommend taking a look.
