Why Is G.R.A.C.E. Suggesting Articles On BJU By Pro-Gay Journalists?
Since so many BJUs are here, I’ll start here before I write about it at Do Right Christians as perhaps this may have been addressed already.
I stumbled on a post by GRACE on Twitter that reads,
GRACE@netgrace_org
“Church Sex Scandals are Rooted in Theology” - Though provoking piece for all faith communities. READ: http://ow.ly/G3Rm3
The article is a hit piece on BJU blaming the THEOLOGY for the sexual issues reported. The article is written by Jay Michaelson. Jay Michaelson’s website gives the following description about him,
Dr. Jay Michaelson is the author of five booksand over three hundred articles on religion, sexuality, law, and contemplative practice. He is a columnist for The Daily Beast and the Forwardnewspaper, and has been a professional LGBT activist and Jewish activist for fifteen years.
Jay’s books include Evolving Dharma: Meditation, Buddhism, and the Next Generation of Enlightenment, the bestselling God vs. Gay? The Religious Case for Equality, and the landmark report Redefining Religious Liberty: The Covert Campaign against Civil Rights. He founded two Jewish LGBT organizations, and has supported the work of LGBT activists worldwide at the Arcus Foundation, the Democracy Council, and his new project at the Daily Beast, Quorum: Global LGBT Voices. Jay’s activist work has been
Someone thinks that justified sin is theologically based? (I’d probably agree with that statement)
GRACE thinks it’s an article worth reading. (they’re probably right)
I don’t think GRACE is being pro-gay. We can talk about if the article is right or wrong (I’m not sure). But I don’t think this is a real controversy.

So you think part of BJU’s handbook was “Rule 11 is based on Hezekiah 3:1 [Thou shalt make women have sex] and our traditional fundamental belief that women should submit like Muslims to sexual advances”? I didn’t see anywhere in that article where the case was made against BJU that their THEOLOGICAL BELIEFS were the cause and reason for the alleged lack of responsiveness.
That kind of accusation also matters quite a bit when it is being made by a person who opposes Christianity (Jewish activist) and is pro LGBT. I’m not saying GRACE is being pro-gay, but don’t you think a little discernment is in order when advising your thousands of followers about an article “for all faiths” written by an anti-Christian, pro-gay journalist? So now if Madam Blavatsky starts writing articles from the grave about Christianity, we recommend them based on any potential truth their may be in the article?
The article itself is similar to the hit-piece written on the Bible in Newsweek at Christmas by Kurt Eichenwald (which I’m going to address more later). The only difference I see in the two is the target is smaller in Michaelson’s article.
I am not BJU’s biggest fan. But I don’t like seeing ANY fundamentalist (or professing fundamentalist) college having their community described in such a bias way by the LGBTs and anti-Christians. There was (and is) enough of that with the BJUnity and DRBJU nonsense. So yes, it is a big deal and a real controversy because it is articles like this that are allowing the gay community to write the book of public opinion on modern churches that they don’t believe are tolerant enough so now the only acceptable response is to change what you believe because it is what you believe that is causing the “discrimination”. Furthermore, since the gay voice is being used as a *Daniel Trap against Christians, I would think the more unchecked say-so they are given to define fundamentalism the more dangerous they become.

*Daniel Trap (from Daniel chapter 6) is when a particular party conspires against a person or community because of their beliefs, and seeks to change the laws in order to catch them violating it so they can then throw them to the lions.

“Though provoking piece” vs ” the associations they have”
Seems like a stretch logically. But I see your trajectory: “G.R.A.C.E. severely flawed … therefore their report is flawed”
I’m not “buying it”.
