The State of Foreign Missions

I’m interested in hearing what the state of foreign missions is in our churches. I received a prayer letter from some long-time friends who were missionaries for many years in Brazil. They’re now in their late 70’s or early 80’s and and retired but still make yearly trips back to Brazil to check on the work as no one appears to have stepped in to take their place on the field. In their letter they said that their was only one new couple in this year’s deputation class. They’re with Baptist Mid-Missions. Can anyone confirm this or set me straight? How are things with foreign missions? (And let’s keep the ABWE comments to the other thread.)
